About Us
Supporting Cultural Diversity in Aged Care
The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing is a Victorian based organisation that primarily supports the aged care sector address the needs of elderly people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Over the past 12 years we have provided training, consultancy and translation services to the aged care sector. We also support culturally and linguistically diverse communities to better understand the aged care services available in Australia.
The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing is auspiced by Benetas and receives funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing through the Community Partners Program (CPP) and the Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) program. These programs aim to ensure that the needs of older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are identified and addressed.
The outcomes of the Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) Program include the following:
- More aged care services delivering culturally appropriate care to older people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities;
- Older people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities having increased access to culturally appropriate residential and community care services including aged care support services; and
- Older people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities having greater capacity to make informed decisions about residential and community based aged care.
The PICAC program funds an organisation in each state and territory:
- Australian Capital Territory
- New South Wales
- Northern Territory
- Queensland
- South Australia
- Tasmania
- Victoria
