Forum - Cross Cultural Perspectives in Elder Abuse

Seniors Rights Victoria will present a forum to consider issues of elder abuse in culturally diverse communities on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2012.

Speakers will include:

  • Ljubica Petrov: Manager, Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing speaking on the topic of ageing CALD populations and the challenges for service providers.
  • Marion Lau OAM JP, Deputy Chairperson of the Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria speaking about ECCV's work on elder abuse issues for diverse communities over many years.
  • Kate Ling, Project Officer, Seniors at ECCV speaking about the two year project she has embarked upon.
  • Frances Cornelissen, Community Care Worker, Gunditjmara Aboriginal Co-operative
  • Wendy Jones, Elder Abuse Project Officer, South-West Primary Care Partnership
  • Gary Ferguson, Community Education Coordinator, Seniors Rights Victoria
  • Minister for Health and Ageing Mr David Davis MLC launching the state government elder abuse implementation plan.
