Invitation to Greek Cultural Briefing in Ballarat
The Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council and Australian Greek Welfare Society are hosting a Greek cultural briefing in Ballarat on Monday 29th September 2014. This cultural briefing aims to raise cultural awareness of aged and health care workers in delivering services to people from Greek background.
The briefing will be facilitated by Adonis Maglis from the Australian Greek Welfare Society. The briefing will inform about local demographics, customs, beliefs, health issues, attitudes towards older people and aged care, barriers in accessing services and tips on working effectively with clients from Greek background.
The provision of briefings on culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Ballarat with significant aged care needs is a vital part of our “Promoting Healthy and Active Ageing in the CALD community of Ballarat” (HAA) program at BRMC. The aim of this program and the briefings in particular is to support service providers in the region in the delivery of culturally appropriate care.
