Professional Development and Training Services
The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing conducts a range of professional development activities including workshops, seminars, forums and conferences aimed at supporting Victorian aged care providers to deliver culturally inclusive services.
Endorsements
We are an Authorised Provider of Endorsed Courses on behalf of the Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA). Suitably qualified participants attending any of our professional development activities are eligible to earn RCNA CNE Points as part of the RCNA’s Lifelong Learning Program (LLP).

Cultural Diversity in Ageing 2012 Conference: Stories to Inspire
7-8 June 2012, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre
This two-day conference will explore current and future initiatives and key challenges for providing culturally inclusive care and services to Australia’s ageing migrant population.
The program will address a broad range of themes associated with the design and delivery of culturally inclusive services and showcase best practice and innovative service models. Topics will include social inclusion, elder rights, person-centred care, residential care, community care, workforce diversity, clinical care, palliative care, dementia care and carer support.
The conference theme this year is ‘Stories to Inspire’. This will provide delegates with an opportunity to take a unique and creative approach to cultural diversity in ageing, and encourage people to consider the stories of communities, workers, carers, services and of course stories of individuals.

PICAC Funded Training Activities
The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing is contracted by the Department of Health and Ageing to deliver free Culturally Inclusive Aged Care workshops to approved Victorian aged care providers offering residential care, CACP, EACH and EACHD services.This 1 to 2 hour workshop can be tailored to meet the needs of your organisation and selected staff group and covers:
- Issues affecting older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Identifying the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse background older clients
- Understanding cultural diversity within your work practices
- Strategies for culturally inclusive aged care
