The new Older Persons COVID-19 Support Line provides information, support and connection older Australians and their families, friends and carers. Callers can ask to be connected to TIS National interpreting services if they would like to speak with the support line in a language other than English. Monash University has released a summary of findings of the Primary Health and Aged Care Translation and Interpreting Services (PRACTIS) study. The research aimed to evaluate the relationship between communication barriers and unplanned emergency department transfers for residents with limited English proficiency and explore residents’ experiences in communication with staff.
