The Centre's Submission to IHACPA - Responding to the 'Pricing Framework for Australian Residential Aged Care Services 2026–27' Consultation Paper

29 August 2025 / News

The Centre recently made a submission to the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) on behalf of the national PICAC Alliance, in response to the consultation paper for the Pricing Framework for Australian Residential Aged Care Services 2026–27.

The submission addresses the question:

What could IHACPA do to support improved provider participation and increased representation in our cost collections?

The submission discusses the barriers involved in using interpreter services in aged care settings, particularly the extra time involved when using an interpreter. It calls for research to determine the additional time taken to use interpreter services. The submission also calls for the inclusion of people whose preferred language is one other than English in cost collection samples to promote more accurate and inclusive measurements of interpreter service time in aged care settings.
