Inspector-General of Aged Care
Natalie Siegel-Brown was appointed Inspector-General of Aged Care in January 2025. Natalie’s specialty is the human rights protection of vulnerable people, having recently worked as CEO of Child Wise, a non-profit organisation building child safe practice all over the world, as well as the Queensland Public Guardian, the statutory oversight body for child protection, youth justice, mental health and disability. She also provided legal intervention in cases of elder abuse. Natalie has worked across the NSW and Queensland Government’s leading public policy and service delivery in domestic and family violence, statutory child protection, ageing and disability. Natalie began as a lawyer with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission. Her experience traverses various non-government organisations and the private sector, advising on social investment.

Outline of the Webinar: The need to address diversity, including cultural and linguistic diversity, is present across all Strengthened Aged Care Standards and is clearly articulated in many of the outcomes. This webinar will outline how the broadened scope for diversity in the new Standards creates expectations for providers in meeting the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse individuals who use aged care services.

Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner
Liz Hefren-Webb has led social policy initiatives across the Commonwealth for almost 30 years, and currently serves as the Commissioner for Aged Care Quality and Safety, with responsibility for national regulation of Commonwealth funded aged care services. Prior to taking up the Commissioner role in January 2025, Liz was the Deputy Secretary (Social Policy) in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet where she drove reforms to major social policy systems such as aged and disability care, Medicare, and education.
