Shey Schillaci
General Manager Community Health and Care, Benetas
Shey joined Benetas in 2021, becoming General Manager, Community Health and Care in April 2026 after holding a range of operational and business management roles within the organisation. Shey brings extensive experience across community health, aged care, and large-scale service transformation. Shey combines operational expertise with clinical governance and risk management to help teams navigate complex care environments, focusing on safe, high-quality home and community care. She has led complex reform aligned with the Aged Care Act and Support at Home, embedding person centred, rights-based care while balancing quality, safety, capability and commercial sustainability.

Specialisation Verification CALD is an Australian Government process that recognises an aged care service is providing safe and inclusive services for older people from culturally, ethnically and linguistically diverse backgrounds. There are other specialisation areas under this initiative, but this webinar will address criteria for attaining SV CALD recognition. Any service may apply.
The webinar will:
- Demonstrate the benefits of pursuing SV CALD, including how it can help consolidate and showcase work already undertaken to meet strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and inclusion objectives.
- Provide an overview of the SV CALD application process, including requirements, evidence expectations, and key success factors.
- Build confidence to pursue SV CALD while recognising it as a milestone in an ongoing journey towards greater cultural safety, inclusion and excellence in aged care.
For Support at Home providers SV CALD enhance visibility through My Aged Care, and position the organisation for potential future funding opportunities, including Thin Markets Grant Opportunity.

Dr Husayn Aly
Consulting Psychiatrist
Dr Husayn Aly is a Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive experience caring for older adults and working with culturally diverse and trauma-impacted communities across Australia and the United Kingdom. Throughout his career, he has supported individuals and families living with dementia in both hospital and community settings, with a particular interest in how culture, language, trauma, and identity shape assessment, diagnosis, and care. He completed his specialist psychiatry training in Western Sydney and has served for over 15 years on the board of the Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra. Dr Aly is passionate about equitable, person-centred care and improving dementia services for culturally diverse communities.

Outline of the webinar: By providing culturally responsive dementia care, aged care providers can help reduce stigma, build trust, and support their diverse workforce to ensure older people and their families are empowered, respected and connected throughout their dementia journey. This helps providers to meet the requirements of the Aged Care Act, Code of Conduct and Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.
This webinar will explore:
- What to consider when supporting older people and their families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, in relation to diagnosis and progression as well as delivering support for positive life outcomes
- The importance of building dementia awareness and capability among culturally and linguistically diverse workers
- The key features of culturally safe and inclusive dementia care
